Assam's wildlife sanctuary reopens

The dream destination for wildlife lovers - Assam's Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary has finally reopened its gates to tourists. The sanctuary is spread over 38.8 sq km and widely known for the exotic Indian One-horned Rhino population. With 93 rhinos in the park living in a 16 sq km habitat you will also find nearly 2000 migratory birds, a huge number of reptiles and other wild animals including leopards, wild boars, elephants, barking deer and wild buffaloes, among others.

 

First time Slender Loris Sanctuary in India

This will be the first in India as Tamil Nadu is all set to unveil Kaduvur Slender Loris Sanctuary in Karur and Dindigul districts of the state. Spread over a big 11,800 hectares, Kadavur Slender Loris Sanctuary will include the regions of Vedasandur, Dindigul East & Natham taluks in Dindigul, and Kadavur in Karur district. In addition to that the Tamil Nadu Government has also initiated India’s first Dugong Conservation Reserve in Palk Bay, an Elephant Reserve at Agasthyamalai (Tirunelveli), Nanjarayan Tank Birds Sanctuary in Tiruppur and Kazhuveli Bird Sanctuary in Villipuram. Tamil Nadu has now become a hot spot for wildlife reserve and an amazing point for wildlife enthusiasts.
